Jawan (meaning "Soldier") is an upcoming action-packed thriller movie from India, written and directed by Atlee, marking his debut in Hindi cinema. The film is being brought to life by producers Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma under Red Chillies Entertainment. The movie's music is crafted by Anirudh Ravichander, marking his first solo composition venture in Bollywood. He's previously composed a song for David and the background score for Jersey. Director Atlee initially approached A. R. Rahman to compose, but Rahman declined for reasons not disclosed. Thus, Anirudh took on the task. T-Series secured the music rights for a whopping ₹36 crore, setting a new record for a Hindi album.
One of the tracks, "Jawan Prevue Theme," with rap by Raja Kumari and performances by Anirudh and, was released on July 10, 2023, as part of a two-minute promo video. The first single, "Zinda Banda," hit the airwaves on July 31, 2023, amassing a stunning 46 million views within a day, setting a new record for an Indian song in 24 hours. The second single, "Chaleya," was unveiled on August 14, 2023.
Filming for the movie began in September 2021, capturing scenes across various Indian cities like Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Rajasthan, and Aurangabad. Anirudh Ravichander created the captivating music and background score, while G. K. Vishnu handled the camera work, and Ruben managed the editing.
Initially planned for a June 2, 2023, release, the movie's launch was delayed due to ongoing post-production efforts. The exciting release is set for September 7, 2023, in various formats like standard, IMAX, and 4DX, aligning with the celebration of Janmashtami.
