Air (2023 film)

About Air Movie :-

"Sky Slam" is a fresh 2023 movie about basketball and business, directed by Ben Affleck and written by Alex Convery. It tells the true story of how the iconic Air Jordan shoes came to be, focusing on a Nike employee's quest to strike a deal with rookie player Michael Jordan. Starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Jason Bateman, Marlon Wayans, Chris Messina, Chris Tucker, and Viola Davis, the film captures the essence of the sports drama genre.

The idea for "Sky Slam" was born in April 2022, and Affleck took the helm as director while also playing a starring and producing role alongside Damon. The production journey, with shooting taking place in June and July 2022, reunited Affleck with his trusted collaborators: cinematographer Robert Richardson and editor William Goldenberg. Despite Michael Jordan not being directly involved, his valuable input, especially in suggesting Viola Davis for the role of his mother, contributed to the film's authenticity.

Initially planned for release on Amazon Prime Video, positive test screenings prompted Amazon Studios to choose a theatrical release first. This decision marked a departure from the usual simultaneous digital and theatrical premieres for Amazon titles. "Sky Slam" premiered at South by Southwest on March 18, 2023, and hit theaters in the United States on April 5. The film garnered praise for Affleck's direction, Convery's screenplay, and the stellar performances of the cast. Despite a budget range of $70–90 million, "Sky Slam" soared, grossing $90 million worldwide.

The spark for the movie ignited while Convery was watching a snippet in "The Last Dance," a documentary miniseries. This segment delved into how Nike inked a deal with basketball legend Michael Jordan, birthing the iconic Air Jordan. Intrigued, Convery delved into deeper historical research.

In a plot twist fit for Hollywood, the script found a new home in April 2022 when Amazon Studios snagged it. The production would be a collaboration between Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports, and Mandalay Pictures. The icing on the cake? The dynamic duo of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon not only joined forces to produce but also took on starring roles, with Affleck stepping into the director's shoes. It's a cinematic journey that began with a script, a documentary, and the shared vision of two Hollywood heavyweights.
