Leo, the latest film starring Vijay and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is making waves at the box office. Despite facing controversies, the movie hit the theaters on Thursday, and early reports suggest that it's well on its way to becoming the Tamil film with the highest opening of the year.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Leo is anticipated to rake in a substantial Rs 68 crore nett on its first day nationwide. This surpasses the opening day collections of Rajinikanth’s Jailer, released in August, which earned Rs 44.5 crore.

Breaking down the regional earnings, Leo is projected to make Rs 32 crore gross in Tamil Nadu, Rs 12.50 crore gross in Kerala, Rs 17 crore gross in the Andhra Pradesh-Telangana region, and around Rs 14.5 crore gross in Karnataka. Notably, Tamil Nadu boasts the highest occupancy rate at 86.35%, with nearly 1176 shows in Chennai alone.

The film's overall gross collections in India are estimated to reach around Rs 80 crore, and when considering global numbers, it could soar to Rs 145 crore. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala, in an earlier prediction, hinted at the possibility of Leo making Rs 100 crore worldwide on its opening day.He shared, "Here in India, we might see it soaring to Rs 70 or even 80 crore on the very first day. And on a global scale, it has the potential to touch the Rs 100 crore mark on its opening day, judging by the latest estimates."
