Mimi Movie Story:-

"Mimi" is a fun Indian movie made in 2021. It's a mix of comedy and drama directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan. The story is about a lady named Mimi, played by Kriti Sanon, who decides to help a foreign couple by becoming a surrogate mother. Other actors like Pankaj Tripathi, Sai Tamhankar, Manoj Pahwa, Supriya Pathak, Evelyn Edwards, and Aidan Whytock also play important roles. The movie was announced in August 2019 and filmed in Rajasthan and Mumbai starting in October 2019. The music, composed by A. R. Rahman with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, adds to the film's charm. Akash Agarwal took care of cinematography, and Manish Pradhan, who edited Laxman Utekar's previous film "Luka Chuppi," handled the editing for "Mimi" too.

Mimi Production :-

Back in April 2019, The Times of India spilled the beans that Kriti Sanon would take the lead in a film centered around surrogacy. The project got its backing from Dinesh Vijan's production house, Maddock Films, as reported. The official announcement came in August 2019, complete with a poster release, confirming Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi as the main stars. What makes it even more intriguing is that it's inspired by the 2011 Marathi film, Mala Aai Vhhayachy. According to Dinesh Vijan, shared in an interview with India Today, "Mimi" unfolds as a tale rooted in real events, steering away from somber narratives. For him, the film delves into the captivating dynamics between a woman who never fancied being a mother and another who's eagerly anticipating the journey into motherhood.

Mimi Filmying :-
The cameras started rolling in Mandawa, Rajasthan, on October 29, 2019, marking the beginning of principal photography. In a chat with Filmfare, Kriti Sanon shared that this film was a first for a movie centered around a female lead. Fast forward to December 2019, and the crew had successfully wrapped up 40% of the film's production. Looking ahead, the next filming schedule was set for February 2020, spanning 30–40 days. Jaipur became the cinematic backdrop on February 10, 2020, adding another chapter to the making of this unique film.

Mimi Release Date :-

Dinesh Vijan, the producer, initially planned to release the movie in theaters in March 2021, right after the release of his film Roohi. Roohi was the first mainstream Hindi film to hit theaters after the COVID-19 pandemic. However, due to the nationwide lockdown caused by a surge in COVID-19 cases during the second wave of the pandemic, the release strategy changed. In May 2021, the decision was made to have a digital release.

Netflix took on the global distribution of the film, and in India, JioCinema, the digital platform for Jio Studios (which also co-produced the film), was set to release it on 30 July 2021. Unfortunately, a hiccup occurred when, four days before the planned release, JioCinema accidentally released the film for a brief period on 26 July 2021. This unintended release led to online piracy, with the movie being made available on torrent sites and illegal streaming platforms.

In response to this situation and to combat piracy, both Netflix and JioCinema decided to premiere the film on the same date, deviating from the initially scheduled 30 July release. This joint effort aimed to curb the negative impact of the early release and ensure a simultaneous and official launch on the agreed-upon date.
